A one-month tour, the beginning of which is theatrical, the end is by the rules of life. Ten Soviet citizens of the amateur troupe, young, honest and adventurous, leave the capital for a regional tour in that fateful summer. Unintentionally crossing the border of the neighboring enemy state, the group has to play on the edge of life and death instead of the stage at the end of the tour. Struggling for life, each of them finds time to examine their lives. They reveal courage and cowardice, devotion and betrayal in each other. Nine out of ten return to the country, but their fates have already irreparably changed.
