Description
Cursed Days
Ivan Bunin
This book, written in a philosophical-publicistic spirit, where authenticity and artistry come together, is based on the great writer’s diary entries, which were made in 1918-20 in Moscow and Odessa. Bunin perceived the Russian Revolution as a national disaster and described the fateful period for the country with gloomy despondency. For the first time, excerpts from the book were published in 1925-27 in the newspaper “Vozrozhdenie” published in Paris, then “Cursed Days” was included in Bunin’s collected works (Berlin, 1935). In the USSR, the book remained banned until Gorbachev’s Perestroika, and was published in parts only in 1988. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, “Cursed Days” gained great recognition, having been reprinted more than 15 times in Russia.
