The plays included in this collection make a special impression in Saroyan’s dramaturgy, at least from the point of view of the place of action: one in the ward of the hospital, the other in the courtroom – the shooting scene, the third – in the context of the war and funeral. All three, instead of being crowned with the spirit of unbridled optimism of Saroyan, have an indefinite and ambiguous ending. Another proof that Saroyan’s palette contains more rich shades in addition to good ones.
